Question

Examine this series: 3, 4, 10, 33, 136. If another series is written with the same rule, what number would come in the place E: 7, A, B, C, D, E ?

A

1160

B

920

C

1165

D

840

Soln.
Ans: c

The number 1165 will come in place of (E). 4 = 3 X 1 + 1, then 4 X 2 + 2 = 10, then 10 X 3 + 3 = 33, then 33 X 4 + 4 = 136. Similarly, A = 7 X 1 + 1 = 8, B = 8 X 2 + 2 = 18, C = 18 X 3 + 3 = 57, then D = 57 X 4 + 4 = 232, E = 232 X 5 + 5 = 1165.
