Question

In the following number series, one of the numbers does not fit into the series. Find the wrong number.

1, 3, 8, 19, 42, 88, 184

A

3

B

8

C

19

D

88

Soln.
Ans: d

Number 88 is wrong and should be replaced by 89. The series is: 1 X 1 + 2 = 3, then 3 X 2 + 2 = 8, then 8 X 2 + 3 = 19, then 19 X 2 + 4 = 42, then 42 X 2 + 5 = 89, not 88.
